G STAR 2010 fall NYFW

It seemed like all of New York turned out at the Hamerstien Ballroom for the G Star Show! Celebrities such as Liv Tyler, Adam Lambert, John Legend, Kelly Osborn, Natasha Bedingfield, Nate Parker and others were all in attendance for the Fall Fashion Show. The show was filled with bold, bright, primary colors and of course there was different shades of denim. The show started with bright sunny yellow jackets and hats that were so bold that they looked straight out of a comic book! Bold, flowing, sexy, chunky, and nautical were all words used to describe the clothes in the show. Trench coats, Military inspired jackets, fitted sweaters and cartigans, and great pairs of jeans!

Christian Cota Fashion Show

In his own words.... "Christian Cota seizes inspiration from the Cubist way of seeing. Perspectives multiplied, and Collapsed. Organic forms disassembled and puzzled back together angle by angle." It is a beautiful way of mixing patters, draping, shapes and textures. Huge chunky bold bracelets and necklaces are stacked and layered. Big belts, bold stripes, and amazing patterns in Ochre, Chrimson, Copper, Purple, and Onyx. With the bold colors in the clothes, a neutral color pallette for the lips and eyes was a beautiful choice. It is paired with a great bang to bring out the eyes.

Thanks to IHeartHeels for allowing me to cover this show for you!

First blog should be First NYFW show!

I thought that it was only appropriate to start my first blog out with my first Show at New York Fashion Week of 2010! I was asked by www.IHeartHeels.com to cover the Vivienne Tam show at her showroom. It was packed to capacity!

She did a beautiful interpretation of the Chinese Zodiak inspired line. It was filled with overtones of ruffles, layers, fur and sequins! It was beautiful to see the way that she cut and seamed the fabric to lay and look exactly like huge feathers on her "Monkey" fur coat. She also used multi colored gathered appliques to make stylists swear that the skirt on the black belted dress was covered in sequins, when not a single glitter was on the dress. Whoever told you can't mix your patterns with sequins with patterned tights and strappy heels was wrong! Just take a look at the "Snake" print sequins with the animal print blouse, that she put with a patterned tight! Amazing!! My absolute favorite piece of the night was the Cream "Tiger" slashed coat! It was layer after layer down one sleeve and the side of the coat.... Stunning!

To top off the entire look, Makeup Artist Charlotte Willer, with Maybelline Cosmetics informed me that the look of the night was the bold bright red lip that was acheived by using the Color Sensational Lip Liner "Red #50". The clean fresh glowing skin was the Maybelline Mineral Powder Liquid Foundation and Mineral Powder Concealer. She finished the look off with Define a Brow. The only product used on the eye was the Eye Studio Quad and using only the Beige Shimmer Point in the inside corner of the eye. To keep with the clean fresh look they chose a perfect, tight ponytail!
